Kingpin #67 is the dad & alpha male in the local flock
Redwood Queen #90 is the mom.
chick hatched on 4/25/2020

The nest is in a Redwood tree about 20 meter up the trunk of the tree.
The tree is located near Big Sur, CA along some isolated & rugged coast line.
A few years ago we were in the area & I got to see a condor feasting on a gray whale carcass that had washed ashore.

There is also a flock at Pinnacles National Monument about 60 miles inland & birds will occasionally go visit the other flock.

The first condor released at Big Sur happened in 1999

Wow, that's a huge and cozy nest.

With growing urban area size, watching them freely in their natural habitat is wonderful. During lockdown, I saw some birds which we thought have disappeared long back. Nature provides solace in some or other way!
